Spend 10 days exploring pristine rainforest in one of the world’s most untouched and remote sections of rainforest. Our expert local guides will take you on an expedition to encounter the rarest of rainforest wildlife, from the very small to the very large. Expect to see hundreds of species like howler monkeys, giant river otters, cayman and goliath bird eating spiders.. the list goes on!
Guyana's rainforests offer some of the best opportunities to see wildlife, and you’ll be venturing right into the heart of it. You will trek, float and wade deep into the jungle in search of rare sightings of jaguar, tapir and harpy eagle. You will climb Thunder Mountain, sleep in hammocks under virgin rainforest canopy and explore the jungle for all manner of flora and fauna.
Arrive in George Town - meet others on the expedition and prepare for departure to the jungle.
You’ll arrive at your jungle base location. Here you will visit giant lily ponds and spot birds and wildlife over sunset with Karanabu’s famous rum punch.
You’ll experience a different side to the jungle.. the savannah. You’ll spot giant otters and other wildlife.
After a few days of adapting to the jungle environment, we’ll start our expedition into the pristine virgin rainforest. You’ll set-up camp near a local river where you’ll use canoes to drift in search of wildlife. You’ll embark on a multi-day trek to climb Thunder Mountain, searching for wildlife along the way, camping near rock pools and fishing for your own meals. You’ll experience the jungle by night with night drifting, and you’ll visit a local harpy eagle nest, one of the biggest birds in the world! You’ll see hundreds of species during this expedition, with our knowledgeable guides helping to identify them.
You’ll return to your jungle base location where we will continue to explore the surrounding area and experience more wildlife encounters.
